Sneaker Fiend Saturday: Iron Man 2 Edition

The product name may in fact be the Nike SB Dunk High Premium Un-Lobster but this Dunk is affectionately known as Iron Man. Unless you've been living like Bear Grylls for the previous two years, you already know what Iron Man is all about. The first Iron Man film, directed by Jon Favreau, kicked ass and chewed bubble gum on its way to collecting a whopping $318,298,180 at the US Box Office...good enough for 24th all-time.

Its sequel, Iron Man 2, is not only the most anticipated cinematic release this year, it features an All-Star cast including Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Mickey Rouke, Sam Rockwell, Gwyneth Paltrow, Samuel L Jackson, Scarlett Johannson and Gary Shandling (just to name a few) so it makes sense that the Swoosh wants to be (unofficially) in bed with all things iM2. To celebrate the film, Stark Industries are also launching Stark Expo 2010, a large scale event that's unlike anything the world has ever seen. As for the shoe itself, this teaser, featuring a Wine-red / Red / Yellow / Black make-up, has been designed to resemble Tony Stark's indestructible outfit.

With LeBron James and his band of Cavaliers currently battling the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the 2010 NBA Playoffs, we felt it fitting to spotlight one of the greatest LBJ (non)releases to date – the Nike Zoom LeBron ‘Stewie Six’ – you know, because his first round series is pretty much a (non)event. This gem of a sneaker is as rare as a defender capable of stopping the King on the fastbreak. Although it's yet to be released to the public, it’s rumoured that there are a few samples floating around, so size nine kicks collectors, you know what to do. This special make-up is inspired by one of James’ favourite animated characters – Stewie, voiced by Seth MacFarlane, from the popular series The Family Guy. This shoe features a bold colour scheme, combined with unique materials and most impressive of all, it looks like a living cartoon...

Inspired by the deliciously delectable French meringue and almond paste confectionery, these striking monotone boots with their chewy moulded leather uppers are sure to leave mouths watering. Nike SB is back with a vengeance this season, from the Blue Zebra Blazer we showed you earlier this week to the Yellow Curb Dunk Low featured below. Hitting the upper with elephant print on the toe box and heel panels, it's the sheer number of materials that hit a home run here – ballistic nylon, suede, patent leather and mesh all in monochromatic burnt black colours. No release date is set as yet, but look for these to drop in the coming months at all good SB retailers.

The latest addition to the Air Jordan PE class, C.C. Sabathia has demonstrated his amazing ability as an athlete via his contribution to winning a National Championship with the New York Yankees. This very limited Air Jordan Alpha AJ1 Outdoor C.C. Sabathia player exclusive features a 3M layer that surounds the shoe from every angle wrapped around a bed of luscious blue suede. There is a tag inside the shoe that says the following “With this special release of the Air Jordan Alpha AJ1 Outdoor we celebrate C.C. Sabathia’s dominating season en route the 2009 championship with a shoe that speaks to his edge and contemporary style.”

Inspired by retro video games such as Mario Bros, Sonic The Hedgehog and the kitschycool of Atari, the Puma 917 gets its pixel poppin' on! Featuring a seamless one piece upper, the 917 has seen some interesting makeovers in the past, including the pop art bangers that dropped last year. You can cop your piece of gaming history here.

Titled "GO GREEN", this time Alife was honored to present CYPRESS HILL and NINJASONIK as performing guests and FISCHERSPOONER as guest DJs. As an added bonus, Ricky Powell kept things interesting as the evening's MC, while DJ NIRE entertained between acts.

The event celebrated 420, the date of both Ninjasonik and Cypress Hill's new album releases, among other things.

As usual, Alife created a themed atmosphere: Green walls, green grass and a commisioned two-story tall mural that reflected the spirit of 420. In addition, and in line with Alife Session tradition, a comemorative "concert" T-shirt was also created. See pictures below the jump.

Sneaker Fiend Saturday: Ato Edition

Japanese designer Ato Matsomuto made a stir a few years back with his strap-tacular Ato Cow Hide Boots… even Kanye was watching and taking notes, using Ato’s boot as the inspiration for the infamous Yeezy. For those with a leather biker fetish, the Cow Hide returns in classic black or white, adorned with a smattering of punky square studs and round metal dimples. They may not be to everyone’s taste (or budget), but the Cow Hide Boot remains a guaranteed head turner.

Sneaker Fiend Saturday: The Hundreds Edition

This week The Hundreds unveil their Summer 2010 Footware collection, including all new fabrications in three new colours apiece. The original Footware model - the Johnson Mid, is back with suede uppers, contrasting laces and splatter-printed midsoles. Its little brother, the Johnson Low, features two-tone canvas uppers and a matching pinstripe around the midsoles and the Valenzuela Low is all grown-up, with smart-looking faux-leather uppers, and contrasting red pinstripes on the midsoles. The entire collection features The Hundreds signature Jags motif on the soles, light foam padding at the tongues and collar openings for comfort, as well as soft EVA insoles with a half-length latex insoles for cushioning. Available this Thursday at THLA and THSF.

With the 2010 NBA Post Season set for April 17, Cleveland Cavalier LeBron James is once again looking to lace up his signature Nikes in an attempt to take down all-comers who stand between him and his dream: an NBA championship. This time around, the King will be armed with a flashy new weapon, his Nike Air Max LeBron VII Post Seasons. Available in a stylish Black/Red/Gold colourway, this updated version of the LeBron Vii includes a brand new sole (reminiscent of the frosty outsole from the Air Jordan XI), leaving the fully visible Air Max unit behind. Also included in the mini make-over is a mean red-eyed lion that's featured on medial side of the heel.

Stussy, UNDFTD, Mad Hectic and New Balance have been doing a four-way dance over in Japan for many years, with the beefy MT580 being their colab canvas of choice. Things are getting a shake-up this season though, with another fave Japanese model, the CM576 Trail Buster, taking center stage. Trail Buster releases nowadays tend to adopt all sorts of crazy rainbow colourways, so these simple, almost Jordan-esque red and blue on black arrangements are something out of the ordinary. Look out for them on Thursday April 29th at Hectic outlets.

There's never a need to hype a Jordan Brand release, anticipation is always soaring like the Jumpman himself. The latest thoroughbred from the Jordan stable, the Flight 45, will drop in a variety of colourways during April and May. This latest five shoe set includes a plush looking all-white pair with a gum bottom as well as the finely styled Medium Grey and Marina Blue pairs. Each pair also feature a full-length polyurethane midsole combined with Air units in the heel and forefoot. No doubt you'll be hassling your favourite spot for these superfly joints!

Air Jordan Accolades

Way back in early January, images of the Air Jordan Accolades leaked (and like everything Jordan Brand, word quickly turned to wildfire as fan interest grew). Earlier this month, the Jumpman unleashed the first of the Jordan Accolades to retail in the form of the aptly titled Premier (Black / Varsity Red). Jordan Brand have since announced the White / Black-Cement Grey (featuring their famous elephant print) and the Black / Varsity Red-White editions. Both have received mix reviews from various outlets in the blog-o-sphere but that chatter has ceased now that the triangle has become a square with the inclusion of the White / Gold-Red version - which recently landed online. This mid-cut Accolade, complete with white leather and two varsity red Jumpman logos, features gold laser-etchings (based on Michael Jordan’s greatest hardwood accomplishments) which have been lifted from the Air Jordan XX. Combined with the Air Jordan X’s midsole / outsole, the Accolade is now the hybrid that we hoped it would be – and you’ve gotta love the intentional 2010 reference.

10 Deep X Adidas

We are quickly following up our first shoe collaboration with a special sneaker project. Conceived in 2008, this one has taken some time to reach completion, and the results are all that we hoped for. We partnered up with Adidas and threw some of our humor, along with some style cues onto one of their less-seen classic silhouettes, the Stan Smith Mid. First introduced in 1965, the Stan Smith is a vintage tennis shoe that has been a footwear standard for generations. Once we got the ok to work the shoe, in typical Deep tradition, we went Raw Dog on it.
